. They were gone, they were dead. They were dead but walking. Of course there were stories of banshees and the dead living again as torment and punishment for crimes by the gods but to see it? Magic was one thing but the balance if life was linear  was it not? Birth, life , death? Cúan ran a paw through their mane of fur as they grappled with the entire situation. They didn't want to look like a superstitious country cat but they would be gripping their beliefs so hard their knuckles would turn white if it was tangible.  Cúan was far from religious but they would not lie to say that freaked them out, their mouth slightly agape.

They set themself right as they tried to settle but the shepherd stood up eyeing the area suspiciously. They couldn't chance another event , perhaps not so friendly, never mind a cat feeling a sudden smell of rain; maybe it was a change in the wind. It happens.. could be the forest playing with them. They thought it would be good to sleep under the trees roots just in case. Magic was real it was here and it was all around them but that didn't mean the shepherd couldn't be a small bit unsettled by strange things.

Cúan's eyes met valerian and the shepherd looked as confused as Valerian feels.

The shepherd didn't have to say anything as Altair said their question for them and they shot him a greatfull look  Listening to Alexi, Cúan had not felt that , They felt different things? Did the ghosts do different things since they were different? Song? Formative molecules? The shepherd blinked dumbly, the sudden change startled them to movement and they started scanning the area around them.

Cúan starts looking near where Altair is and then scanning around with a worried but focused expression , like some sort of guardian their concentration unshaken.

"I recogn we may need to take shifts as look outs. I don't fancy somethin coming up on us unawares." They spoke over the crackle of the fire as they moved. "I  felt ? Thought? It was was gonna rain in the next few hours" They signed to Altair  picking up their Lantern as they stepped away from the fire to check the outskirts of their little haven. The shepherds panic has ebbed away and they state what they saw with a gentle time but it sounds matter of fact nearly mundane without them trying to make it feel. The stars twinkled above like the siren call of freedom but the shepherd stood and watched and started checking all around. Their eyes darting, it feels like they have done this thousands of times. They probably have.

Cúan just wonders what magic the forest holds deep within it, what will happen. They look back, only a glance at the group quietly before turning back to watch and check.  They did notice Alexi pull out a map and thought the idea was good and they seemed pleased, even if they stayed silent. A nod was sent Alexi's way. Their ears alert and ready they hoped they wouldn't see anything… the shepherd's mountainous form illuminated dimly by the lantern held at half Arms length from them. They wanted to , no needed to make sure everyone was safe before they could sleep. They had to Be. They had a job to do and they would do it well. They were a shepherd and it was their job to protect.

They couldn't help but be curious from a healthy distance what the ghosts' effects were but they would rather not do this again.  It felt so home , so familiar like your own shadow. They truly had never experienced anything like this before.
