Stone Forest Recounts WANTED! (Includes Rewards)

Posted 13 January 2023, 21:52:18 EST by Admin

Silas smiles as you approach the large note on one of the library's walls "Of course you've seen the library? Centuries' worth of knowledge and records, available to the public. We have a fortunate opportunity to contribute to their stores. A detailed account of your experiences in the Forest of Stone would be a priceless help to other researchers and discoverers for years to come... though I suspect Bill will pay you something anyhow."

As Silas finishes up, Agnes steps up beside him with a nod of acknowledgement, interjecting with a raised paw as she cuts in before any listening cats could disperse. “N’ for those adventurers with a hankering to tell a story, but can’t muster the polish for a formal recounting, don’t shy away! Another librarian, Will, would love to hear your accounts of the Forest of Stone as well. They’ve got a palate for legends and dramatics, so any ol’ tale will do! It’s the heart of it that counts.”

Details.

Silas has informed the guild that the librarians would like to include records of the guild's recent experiences in their public stores for archival purposes. History needs to be recounted, afterall, and Will has promised financial compensation for every account submitted to the library. The library has a scribe for anyone who may need assistance with writing.

On the flip side, Agnes adds that there is a more eccentric librarian who seeks tales of adventure and thrill, or any otherwise informal account of your experience that you feel would fall into this category. Have a heartbreak to share? An epic battle moment? This is your chance to shine! Any encounters within the Forest of Stone are allowed here, and they’ll also toss a pretty penny for anyone willing!

Write down how or what your character would recount for either of these requests! You are free to write as little or as long as you like, and can be silly as a character walking in, giving a note that says "I hate this place." and leaving, or a full length-piece (Feel free to link a seperate doc, if you worry for its length!). This was made for fun, as we thought having a compiled response of everyone's characters in the comments would be a fun, uniting way to archive where your characters were at in the time. For any submission, you will be granted 50 coins!

The Guild Leader's Office

Posted 13 January 2023, 22:34:31 EST by Admin

Light filters in through a window of the office, painting its stacked papers and wooden interior with a filter of gold. The entire room is carved of wood, its interior cozy and snug, but large enough to situate three cats comfortably. A bookshelf lines one wall of the room, its books partially emptied across the surface of the desk that was positioned vertically to the bookshelf. The desk itself is made of raw wood, its surface polished enough to be used for its intended purpose, while its beneath is still rough and unsanded. Two chairs are positioned on either side of the desk, presumably where Silas and Agnes would sit to discuss any expedition business.

Cats are now able to have one off interactions with Agnes and Silas by coming into their (temporary) office in the Greendoze Town hall! Similar to the Q-n-A at the beginning of Expedition 1, you can have your cat approach asking, interacting, or doing anything with Agnes or Silas. Feel free to write as little or as much as you'd like, and we'd send a reply back. These will not be full Roleplays, we will only reply once back (unless stated otherwise) and this interaction will be considered canon and remembered by the NPCs.

Here is an example:

Player comments:

Merle gingerly makes his way into the office, his eyes at the floor as he seems… without confidence in asking for help. Battling both pride and anxiety, he wills his gaze to meet with Agnes’.

“Pardon me.” He begins with a cough, before straightening his posture. Just so he looks less weak “It’s been perhaps a small bit of a reality check - in our last encounter, that the Boundless have been… bigger of a challenge than I originally imagined. I’ve heard you’ve dealt with some in your experience?”

“I was… looking for advice on that. And maybe general combat advice, if you have any”

Admin Replies:

Agnes greets the guild member with a grin and a wave as he enters her space. She seems hardly concerned with his initial awkwardness, but her smile makes a slight drop when he mentions the Boundless. In her returning gaze, there’s… regret. Fear? It’s supplemented with a sigh as she seems to think heavily over the conclusion to the first expedition.

“Boundless… are something to be reckoned with, I’ll tell ya that. Even with all the experience on my belt, I wish I could say anything for certain. They come in so many different shapes and sizes that you gotta be prepared for anything!”

She softens her expression and gives Merle a pat on the back, “Brave of ya, to have fought them head on. Still. There’s always things you could do to protect yourself. Protect your face, and your belly since it’s a vulnerable soft part. Aiming for the eyes of an enemy is always a good shot.”

(Members are free to put a last reply, but will not be replied further)

Have fun interacting! You may find your characters in fun situations...

Recount the Stone Forest | The Guild Leader's Office

Hi Everyone! Hope your holidays have been wonderful. With the busy portion of this time of year over, we’re back to releasing more Rest Break features- this time with a big update!

Expedition 1 Recap

Since it’s been a hot second since Expedition 1 and many of us may be out since the Holidays, here’s a summary of Expedition 1!

  • After being accepted, the newly formed Guild makes their way to the Greendoze Town Hall. After warm welcomes from the Guild Leaders, Agnes and Silas, they open up a Q&A session and lead everyone to their teams to break the ice. Cupcakes, matching bandanas and other gear are supplied.
  • Maps are handed out to every team, revealing the first expedition's location: The Forest of Stone.
  • Teams are told to pick a route, each one having a different challenge they face to travel through the Stone forest.
  • Events include:
    • A path obstructed by colourful plants of all sorts, which give an effect when stepped into. In the middle is revealed to be a Laurelstone which pulses and seems to affect the odd plants. Many teams also find a Boundless lurking nearby.
    • A magic trap of sorts, which encloses the teams in a space with a strange pond gives odd sensations when stared at. The team must match the reflection of the magical pond with their surroundings to find the escape, and rescue a missing local from the same predicament.
    • A baby magical animal, which finds itself in trouble, alerting its mother. Teams must deal with both helping the baby while facing the fury of the mother.
    • An oddly created wall that obstructs the route. An equally odd squirrel holds the key among the gathered trinkets in its hollow. Teams must gain the trust (or be cunning enough) to be granted the key from the rodent. During this, birds begin to attack, leaving the squirrel’s fate up to the team.
    • A caterpillar Boundless which holds a Laurelstone. As teams chase it, they find themselves in an unnerving area full of dark cocoons nesting all around. Opening one brings out a moth.
  • During travels, some teams find statues deep in the natural labyrinth, looking to be worn from centuries of age.
  • As everyone reaches the middle, a cavern in the center of the Stone Forest, which holds a very large Laurelstone- bigger than any has ever seen- The crystal pulses with
  • This incredible discovery is interrupted by a rush of Boundless invading. Most seem in sync, except a few which attack and face the teams head on.
  • The Boundless the teams face begin to use odd magical attacks on the Guild members.
  • The Boundless also seem incredibly attracted to this large piece of Laurelstone, and with every passing moment, and every Boundless gnawing or scratching at the discovery, the tension rises.
  • Energy is released as the Laurelstone succumbs under the weight of the beasts, and the teams experience different magical phenomena, such as levitating, having the ground shake beneath their feet, or having gusts of winds pushing them back.
  • The tension reaches a breaking point, and the Laurelstone finally explodes, sending the Wayseeker’s Guild flying against the walls of the cavern as the Boundless evaporate in glee.
  • A voice calls out to the guild before they’re shrouded in darkness- it’s Agnes. She and Silas have found them.
  • However… a strange vision manifests in their minds. They find themselves in different scenarios, and within those places, they find their calling- they find their magic.
  • Afterwards, everyone wakes up in the Greendoze hospital, met with Agnes and Silas' worried faces. They tell everyone to recuperate until further instruction

Expedition 2 Update

We promised you all that we would communicate any changes on the progress and plans of Expedition 2’s development, and so we’ll start this with an update on Expedition 2. Due to the holidays, development temporarily slowed down, and therefore we have decided to extend the rest break slightly to allow us time to catch up and fully prepare for the new expedition so that we can give you the best experience possible. Therefore, Expedition 2 will be released sometime in **early February**, within the first two weeks. We thank you for your patience, we can’t wait to begin!

Please be aware that this rest break is unusually long due to the Christmas season, and future rest breaks will be shorter. Therefore, keep in mind that you won’t have this long to complete prompts in future rest breaks, so plan your time accordingly!

Crafting and Shops

Crafting and Shops are now live! Finally, things to do with all that you’re earning. Not everything may have a crafting use just yet, but many of your items will now! Additionally, most non-craftable items, even the ones on the expeditions, will be available to buy in the shops. Check them both out here. People with high enough culinary skill may notice that they have a little bonus with crafting added soon ;) Your promised coin from post counts will also be distributed in the following days so you’ll be able to spend away! Thank you for your patience!

The Guild Leader’s Office

We have an interaction system with Agnes and Silas! It works similarly to the Q-n-A that we had at the beginning, except there’s less limitations, word limits, etc. Write a post having your character approach either Agnes or Silas in their office, and a response will be written back in response to your interaction! We will not have full roleplays, and rather just one-off moments. Who knows what you could learn from interacting with our Guild leaders 👀?

For more information, read here: https://waywardtowilds.com/news/7.the-guild-leaders-office

NPC Headcanoning

If you want a more in-depth interaction with the Guild leaders, or Shirley, we are open for headcanons! Since we can’t provide long paragraph RP or anything to every member, we wanted this to be an option to develop further connections to the Guild leaders. All you need to do is make a ticket and propose the scenario! This can be a long conversation that your cat has with Silas, perhaps a training session with Agnes or pet-care with Shirley! Your options are limitless. While your characters are the spotlight of the story, our NPCs do have a part in the plot, and your interactions with them can influence their actions. We welcome all interactions between player and NPC.

Event: The Guild Meeting

Next week, starting Tuesday, we will have an event! Silas and Agnes, since the new developments with everyone’s magic powers and discoveries, has called for a Guild meeting two weeks after your return. This event is optional, but a place where your character can make their report and findings, and see what decisions Silas and Agnes make out of what information is gathered This will be lightly checkpointed, (a beginning, middle, and end checkpoint) spanning 3-4 days for each one. Excited to see you there!

Extra fun

Two more chill events are here for you to discover and have fun with!

Recounts of the Stone forest.

Greendoze keeps records in their libraries of experiences in the Stone Forest. Agnes and Silas are having the Wayseekers collaborate with them! This will be up on a journal, where you can use the comment to write your character telling their experience. This has no word limit, and rather is for the fun of seeing everyone’s collective and contrasting words on what they went through!

Whispering Ruins investigations

Coming up on the 29th will be an opportunity to investigate the Whispering ruins only a walk away from Greendoze. More information will be out on release, but this event will need no required writing, and simply choosing a path to discover and explore what could be out there.

New Quest!

“Flew the Coop” is up! It’s nothing quite out of the ordinary, though you may find some feathered friends running loose around the site… Read on the quest at the bottom of the Quests page.

Expedition 1: What Lies Within

Posted 18 October 2022, 14:05:30 EDT by Admin

THE STORY SO FAR...

Part I. The Answered Call

The bustle within Greendoze has clearly grown since the Wayseeker’s Guild had their call. Even a foreigner could tell: this quaint place had never been this busy. You find yourself among cats of all different appearances and backgrounds, all here to join something bigger than yourself.

You enter the Town Hall, and those giving it a clear look for the first time find themselves in welcoming surroundings. From what you may see in between the heads of the other now-guild members, the polished wood brings warm, homely tones to the place, decorated with flowers and artistry. Clearly, a community brings its heart here.

Silas steps forward, clearly expecting silence as he surveys the chattering crowd. After a short pause, Agnes decides to help him, calling out, “A moment of your time, adventurers!” Her voice is joined by a loud squawk from Pip, the parrot perched on her shoulder–Shirley flinches–and as the crowd quietens, Silas begins.

"Welcome, weary Wayseekers. It's an honor to have you all by our side, and you can cast aside any doubt you may have about our gratitude. That you've joined our cause to solve the magic crisis in our land means something not just to me and Agnes, but to all who have been hurt by the beasts prowling the wilds. When we complete our mission, I am certain that you all shall be hailed with respect and admiration for your selfless deeds.”

Silas begins to pace, his paws clasped behind his back as he continues.

“With us, we have cats of many backgrounds, and many ideas. But you can be rest assured that you share something in common with every cat beside you: you seek a solution to this crisis, no matter the reason. Let our united cause bear fruit to camaraderie and teamwork. Thank you for placing trust in our leadership. It is my solemn promise that we will not let you down. If any of you have inquiries for us, Agnes, Shirley, and I are here to answer any questions now."

He nods towards Shirley, who shrinks from the attention of the crowd but waves quickly; and then to Agnes, standing tall with her sword pointing toward the floor as her paws rest on the hilt. Silas steps back with a bow, allowing Agnes to take his place.

“We’ve posted your teams up here!” She slams a paw against a line of papers strung across the wall, grinning enthusiastically. “You’ve each got a team number, ‘n the names of your new friends will be there. Get together and don’t be strangers. In times of crisis, our greatest strength lies in the trust of our allies.”

Part 2. A Magical Awakening

Voices.

You can hear the soft murmur of voices, as if behind a door. You stir, rising from the deep  depths of exhaustion as you slowly become aware of how pleasantly warm you are. Your eyes flicker open, blinking away the bleariness as you study your surroundings. Sunlight streams through an open window, pooling across the bed you’re resting on. Around you, the rest of your teammates lie in beds of their own, battered and bruised, but very much alive. A collection of medical notes are pinned to their beds, and you realise that you are in Greendoze Hospital.

The voices outside quieten, and a moment later, the wooden door swings open with a creak. Agnes strides in, followed by Silas who is gravely quiet with worry. Pip is the first to notice that you’ve awakened, lifting off of Agnes’s shoulder to glide around the room with an excited screech. Agnes’s expression brightens as her reddened eyes meet yours, brimming with barely restrained emotion.

“You’re awake! My heart was just about ready to give out if you didn’t stir soon. When we ran into the cavern ‘n found you all just lying there, and you weren’t breathing, I thought… I thought-” Agnes pulls out a handkerchief from her pocket as her voice becomes a choked croak, dabbing at her eyes. “We rushed you back to Greendoze as fast as we could, ‘n the medics worked all night to stabilise you. They did a fine job. I’ve no doubt you’re gonna get plenty of questions about what happened, from me ‘n Silas too, but don’t worry about answering yet. Rest first. Your recovery is top priority.”

Whilst Agnes spoke, Silas stood with his paws tucked behind his back. As his eyes sweep over you, you notice bags under his eyes. He must’ve been up all night. He only stirred out of his thoughts when the silence that fell after Agnes’s final words lasted a little too long.

“Hm? Yes, Agnes is quite right.” He clears his throat a little, letting a small sigh of relief out before standing straighter. The bright and assured leader he’s meant to be returns as it continues, “There will be plenty of time to discuss what happened whilst we prepare for our next expedition. For now, your orders are to take it easy. Do let us know if any of you feel under the weather. And as we promised, accommodation, food and other necessities are covered by guild funding, so everyone can relax for the meantime. That being said, with everyone up and breathing, would you consider this one a success, Agnes?”

Agnes leans against her sword as she rests her chin on her paw. The blade begins to bore a hole into the wooden floorboards. Oh dear.

“Well, Greendoze locals have said that occurrences of dangerous magic have decreased dramatically since our return. ‘N by some kind of grace, everyone came back alive. It ain’t the success I expected, ‘n certainly not the cost I wanted to pay, but there’s no denying the gratitude of the locals. Suppose with them in mind, yes.” She turns back to you with a proud grin. “There are quite a few Greendoze locals who wanna thank you, you know. You’ve become quite the celebrity around these parts.”

Rest easy now, adventurers. You’ve done well.”

OOC NOTES

Part 2.

Info coming soon...

Part I.

Welcome to the first Roleplay event of Wayward to Wilds! As of right now, we have a pre-expedition event with two parts going at the same time! These events will last a week, and Expedition 1 will officially begin right after.

Within our Expedition 1 space, you will find channels pertaining to your designated team where updates will occur, and within that channel is also a thread for OOC chatter waiting for you. Feel free to start chatting with your team! As well as an OOC channel for general expedition chatter, and a npc-qna channel where your characters can ask the Guild Leaders any questions!

Rules for the QnA channel differ from our normal roleplay channels. Keep in mind the following points:

  •  Only one question per player!
  •  Questions can be directed at any of the Guild Staff (Agnes, Silas, and/or Shirley). You can target one individually, or two/all collectively, but the one question rule applies. We ask that you specify at the top of your post which NPC you're targeting with a [Question for (NPC)] marker!
  •  Please keep your submission no longer than 100 words!

Simultaneously, we have team docs already set up! This is just a laid back icebreaker phase to get your characters familiarized with each other before the action begins. Checkpoints will also be given on day 3 and 5. Your team document will be linked in your team channel.

As this is many people’s first times roleplaying on Google Docs, I’ll also link two helpful guides we’ve made to explain parts of the process

An Intro to RPing on DocsPosting formats: Rules and Examples

Since this is not the expedition quite yet, only two document posts will count to the activity requirement. (Meaning when you reach 2/7, leave it at that until the Expedition portion begins!) However, you are encouraged and always free to post more if you feel like doing so! Happy Icebreaking!
