"Mr. Cattenborough!" Roan cries, the corks on her safari hat jangling as she trots up to the old naturalist. (Or is it Dr. Cattenborough?) "I so admire your work. As soon as we got a radio when I was a kid, I never missed an airing of your program!"

She peppers the poor old man with questions about his life and career. What got him into zoology? How did he break into the field? What's his favorite animal? Any advice for a budding naturalist? How did she and her group perform?

"And one more thing--" She splits her notebook open to show a full-page spread of charcoal hippogriff sketches, some better than others, all with accompanying notes on hippogriff anatomy and behavior. On the next page, there's a comedy sketch of Cúan and Heidi fleeing in terror from an enraged mama hippogriff, but she doesn't show him that.
