(Hi! You rolled the one where Silas and Agnes aren't there, but your questions will be answered after you choose something to investigate!)

As you finally muster the courage to enter the guild leader's office, all of your internal rallying is met with a silence; there is nobody there. Your eyes drift along the room, eventually settling on the desk. Among the controlled mess lay papers, books, and a framed picture… Will you take a closer look?

Well, the scenario he had envisioned in his mind certainly didn't play out in reality...ah, to be a victim of unpredictability once more. Nevermind the fact that, in most circumstances, Prescott quite enjoyed the thrill of the unpredictable. This, however, well...he hadn't taken into account the idea that his guildmasters may not have been present in their office at all. So lost within his inner rehearsals that he hadn't truly realized that, upon his rapping on the door, no actual answer came upon him. It was merely a phantom response he heard; a trick his mind played on him. Had he known the office was empty he would have never barged in.

Erm...why...had the two kept the office unlocked anyhow? A rather, uh....oversight on their part. (And even minor oversights were things that didn't...bode well for the future.) No no, dismissing any thoughts of negativity, Prescott made to leave but halted. He should...at least leave the chocolates he bought solely for this occasion, right? He could set it on their desk and be off on his merry way. So, indeed, he ended up encroaching upon the empty room, movements a bit tentative, as though he expected someone to pop out and scold him for these transgressions. Silas and Agnes would understand, wouldn't they? All he wanted to do was leave a gift, something that, hopefully, would put a small smile on their faces.

Curiosity would be the end of him. That saying, curiosity killed the cat? Well, the boot certainly fit in his case. He couldn't help it, and oh...how it despaired him so. But, on top of that desk, his eye couldn't help but flit to what appeared to be a pictured, a framed one, at that, which could attest to its importance. Probably. Surrounding it were a plethora of opened books and various papers and...well...surely nobody would know if he...if he just took a quick peek, right? Surely not. Yeah, no, what harm was it?? Haha, but...no...no no, he couldn't. It was wrong, practically criminal! Shame on him for even entertaining such a notion! ...Yet, it was too late, he was already looking, and for much longer than a simple peek at that. His curiosity held him in its grasp, and he could do nothing more than concede to his demands.

Should one or both of the guildmasters walk in and catch him in such a loathsome act, he would practically startle out of his fur, jumping back and regarding them with wide eyes and a countenance that just screams guilt. The box of chocolates clutched to his chest like some form of lifeline. He would begin to stutter out what he had planned to ask in the first place; attempting to act as though he weren't snooping at all. It...it was only a quick glance!!! Forgive him, please!!!!

Prescott’s closer look would welcome him to something soft and sweet.

The framed picture that lays above the paperwork Silas has is one that appears familial. It’s him, with two cats Prescott would not recognise, but could easily tell are probably Silas’ partner and daughter. They embrace themselves tightly while looking straight at the camera. Silas’ face is adorned with a bright smile, one showing teeth. It’s unlike the more cordial and professional smiles he offers while he takes up the role of a leader. Despite the sepia tones, you can tell his world is full of colour over in this picture

In the corner is one extra face, in coloured photo this time, wedged there intentionally as if to include them as part of the family. This cat shares the same head stripe as Silas, but doesn’t have the oaken shades of his pelt. Her fur is coloured a ruddy shade of red, and her smile is cheeky.

The sound of small, orderly pawsteps can be heard from behind, before Prescott can look any further

"There's no need to apologize, our office doors are open to all Wayseekers."

It seems Silas had heard the anxious prattle from outside, by chance returning at the right time. He does not seem to mind that Prescott may be leaning so close to his workspace.

"I had just decided to step out for a moment for some fresh air, is all. It's a beautiful day, isn't it?" Silas stands alone, his paws tucked behind his back. He moves across the room, standing on the opposite side of the desk from Prescott, looking him in the eyes as he tilts his head inquisitively. His brow quirks upward ever so slightly, almost looking taken aback. "Do I not seem as though I'm faring well?" He blinks rapidly.

He pauses to consider the question longer, reaching for a more satisfactory answer. As he does this, his paw subconsciously gravitates toward the box of truffles, popping one into his mouth and chewing as he mulls over it all. Once he's finished, he steadily begins to procure an answer, navigating the question as delicately as he would the pages of a book.

"Going into this journey, we knew that there would be challenges. Not of this proportion, of course- but knowing what we've seen now, our number one priority has become reconsidering our approach to your safety." He pauses, his brow furrowing back into lines of deep thought for a moment, taking a small breath of recollection. "There was no predicting what our last expedition would've uncovered He utters in a tone of confirmation, partially to himself as his paw reaches forward to brush against some papers on the table. His eyes eventually sidle back toward Prescott. "If we seem distant, it is likely just due to our own preparation for the next expedition. There's much to streamline, after all. Your heart is good, but this is all in due course, I assure you. It is our job."

Silas then proceeds to stand there for a very long moment, the silence petering onwards in a manner that was probably only natural to him. He seems to be thinking much louder than he's talking. It lasts until his shoulders relax a little, blinking as though he's only just realized something. "Oh- and thank you for the truffles, of course. You're rather thoughtful, aren't you? I'm sure that Agnes will be very happy."

His ears twitch, leaning back a bit in an awkward attempt to reconsider his clinical approach to the question. His tailtip twitches to-and-fro as he clears his throat. "And thank you for checking in, too." He politely tacks on, offering a quaint, quieter smile and dipping his head accordingly, clearly touched by the notion despite his surprise.
